Ok, given we are in Australia I should probably use a metric system measurement, but “The Sourcing 0.9144m Stick” just doesn’t sound right. What this does illustrate is that we all use different measurement systems to measure what we do and how we do it.
Far from being my favorite topic, metrics and measurement is important to every team. With more sourcing teams being created all the time, and growing to the point where it’s important to track productivity, measurement of teams seems to be a hot topic at the moment.
Analytics on the other hand, the metrics and measurement around what we do and the channels we use, is a topic much closer to my heart. Being a geek and loving data, statistics and trends leads me much more to that side of things. To me, tracking source of hire and the effectiveness of your sourcing channels, who’s use is based on research around who your ‘target audience’ is, are things that you should be doing from day one. There are more tools for doing this all the time, and as we use more social media channels, an ever increasing (and complicated) bunch of tracking and analytics tools for understanding your social media impact as well.
Measuring what we do and how we do it is the topic of the next Sydney sourcing function. Tomorrow night (October 26) the panel will be discussing analytics and measurement of sourcing strategies and teams. Join panelists James Griffin from SR7, Skye Cracknell from HRX and Natalie Gundara from Optus for what looks to be an interesting discussion. Doors open from 5.30 for a 6pm start, register here
If you work in sourcing or recruitment anywhere you have no doubt come across these topics and issues at some point. We would love your input.
